The Sod Buster Classic is a putt-putt golf fundraiser that raises money for families in need and organizations in the Quincy/Mendon/Ursa, Ill., area.
Each putt-putt hole is designed and ran by a volunteer who sponsors/builds the hole at their home or place of work, etc.
This fundraiser takes place on the third Saturday of March every year. On the day of the event, teams will meet at the Ursa Farmers Coop Administrative Office located at 2397 IL-96, in Ursa, IL, and sign in from 12 noon to 1 p.m. At sign-in the team will receive their score sheet and map. The team will need to fill out the score card with each team members name. The teams will be given a run down of the day’s events and then released to their first hole. Once the team reaches their first hole, they will need to give their score sheet to the people who are running the hole. Their sheet is placed on the bottom of the stack and once it is their turn, their name will be called and they will putt. After the team is finished putting, they will take the filled out card and move onto the next hole.
At the end of the day, scorecards can be left at the last hole for final tallying. The winner of the tournament receives free entry into next year’s event.
Food is provided at the holes for participants to eat. T-shirts, 50/50 raffle tickets, and other raffles will also be offered the day of the event. Donations are also excepted. This event is a great way to have a good time while raising money for a great cause.
- Members of the Sod Buster Classic Committee and Sod Buster volunteers are not responsible for accidents.
